Toilet Rolls

Toilet rolls are probably the most used craft pieces. They allow for hours of fun and mayhem and mess. Whether it is raining or just  a day like today where you want to spend some crafty time with the kids, it is always fun for the kids to be proud of something they do.

what you need:

  • The toilet roll
  • paint and paint brush
  • coloured paper or card
  • small pom poms (from kmart or spotlight)
  • scissors and glue
  • lots of patience

You can come up with any design you like. We did little cats that we later stuck pretty flower stickers on. It was a lovely quality time with the kids. They now have them placed beside their bed to talk to whne they go to sleep tonight. They are sooo proud of themselves.

Crotchet and Knitting Madness

I often have fantasy of being a creative mum that can sew, crotchet, knit and fine needle stitch. I think I have every book on home crafts, the more modern versions that is. I envy friends that have the time and/or inclination to sit at nightlong after kids have gone to bed and  stitch away. I can sew and even studied textile and fashion design long after leaving school. But on the occasions that I do, it seems like a fight with the machine, and fabric and needles and patterens and….

But coming to the rescue is my mother-in-law. The most artistic crafty lady around. She has knitted some of the most amazing toys for my kids, sewn some amazing pieces for my partner and crotchet some gorgeous beanies for me.  She has inspired us to create amazing pieces using her creativity for our soon to be released online shop. I want her to do grownup  knitted toys with little sad faces. Hopefully people will love them as much as we do. here are a couple of samples of cuties that she has made for my children.

Feeding Time

The decision on what to feed the kids is always such an ordeal, especially when there are two very different taste buds in the house.

In this house we have one that will try anything and is a bit of a carnivore and another whose diet consists of cold pasta (without sauce), baked beans, fruit and milk. I succumbed to being that mother whom makes pictures out of the food…from flowers to faces to little playful men. And yes it does help, and yes they ate dinner as they giggled at mums creativity.

Here are the two I did on the weekend with pumpkin mash and meaty rissoles.

Beautiful world of building

We can always keep gorgeous artworks from our children but we can not keep those magnificent works of art made from lego or blocks.
Our boy loves a good lego building so I have decided to start photographing them to keep.
They look amazing. So bright and colourful. Here is his ‘BIG machine’.
